Product schema: why your Google listing has no price under it
In an audit of 9,510 live storefronts, 96.4% carried no Product structured data on the homepage. The result is a plain blue link next to competitors showing price, stock and rating.
What it does
Product markup tells Google the name, price, currency and availability in a machine-readable form. Without it, Google has to guess from rendered text, and usually doesn't.
The test
Paste one product URL into Google's Rich Results Test. 'No items detected' means there's no markup. On Shopify, most themes don't include it by default and the app you installed may only cover some templates.
Why themes get this wrong
Markup is usually added to product templates only, so collection pages, the homepage feature section and quick-view modals carry none. Google reads the page it crawled, so a missing template is a missing listing enhancement.
The honest limit
Schema doesn't rank you. It changes how your existing ranking looks, which changes click-through, which eventually changes rank. Expect a click-through effect first, not a ranking jump.
